Founded on September 1st of 1923, Avaí Futebol Clube is a club from the city of Florianópolis, capital of the state of Santa Catarina. Its colours are blue and white. Its mascot is a Lion and the club is known as "The Lion of the Island" as 90% of the territory of Florianópolis is located on an island. Together with their historical rival (Figueirense) are the maximum champions of the Catarinense Championship, with 18 titles each.
