The Comerciário Esporte Clube was founded on May 13, 1947, in Nereu Ramos Square by a group of young people, most of them 18 years old, from the downtown neighborhood of the city of Criciúma. This was the first time there was a soccer team downtown.
The first "Comerciário" title was won in the city of Siderópolis, in 1948. The team was considered the Cinderella of the tournament for being the youngest in the region. In 1949 the club's first great victory took place, defeating Atlético Operário twice, 3 to 1 and 6 to 1, thus winning its first Larm (Liga Atlética da Região Mineira) title. The champion's formation was as follows: Mário; Colombi, Vante, Muricy and Zoile; Ary, Carlitos and Eraldo; Detefon, Aníbal and Bigode
